Teaching Assistants

Each year a select group of graduates from our Mini Medical School for High School Students Program are selected and volunteer to be teaching assistants. These highly motivated students are mentored by Dr. Rubin and help run our programs.

See one, do one and teach one.
Dr. Rubin’s Mini Medical School was conceived and designed in 2004 by Ira S. Rubin, M.D., Ph.D., of Naperville Pediatric Associates, with the help of his son, Zachary Rubin, who at the time was a student at Naperville Central High School.

Dr. Rubin received his B.A. in Biology from New York University, and then attended The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he received his Ph.D. and M.D. He then completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.  Dr. Rubin has two sons. Zachary Rubin, M.D. graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Pre-Professional Scholars Program in Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. Zach then completed a pediatric residency at the University of Illinois
Children’s Hospital and currently is a fellow in allergy/immulogy at Washingtion University in St. Louis, MO.  Dr. Rubin’s older son, Jason Rubin, D.P.M. graduated from The College of The University of Chicago, then from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.  He completed a  residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago IL. He is now in private practice in Chicago and Naperville, IL.

Dr. Rubin runs his programs with his wife, Susan, as a community service project. Most of our programs are held at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL. Edward provides clerical support and space. In addition, Dr. Rubin is supported by the help of many Mini Med School Graduates who volunteer their time as teaching assistants.
